KARACHI: At least two people incurred injuries in a powerful explosion, initially believed to be cylinder blast, but later sources said that explosives were used to carry out explosion in Lines Area of metropolis on late Monday, reports SAMAA
Also, closely located shops received damages caused by nut bolts and ball bearing that are commonly used with explosives these-days and are meant for causing the collateral damage.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rehman Malik, Interior Minister, has formed a committee to probe explosion.
According to details, a massive blast ripped through shops and walls in AB Sanyasi area of Lines Area before the arrival of a scheduled mourning procession in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram, leaving two men minor injured.
Police sources initially said that the blast was of cylinder explosion but later retracting earlier statement, they said it was the explosives’ blast.
People said the blast was loud enough to be heard from long distances which sent a wave of panic and fear among area inhabitants.
Later, police and Rangers arrived on the site and placed strict cordon around. Injured were shifted to hospital where their condition detailed as being ‘stable’.
Investigations are underway but whilst it, Interior Minister, A.Rehman Malik has also formed a joint probe team to look into the intention behind the blast. SAMAA..
